Diogenes Laertius

According to chapter one of our study book, this guy is called the father of of philosopy. He divided the presocratic era into serveral sections. I think they are:

1. Ionic or Mylesian school which consists primarily of three big named philosophers from Greece: thales, anaximander, and anaximenes.

2. The Pthyagorus school - which was centered in Italy, but I believe he came from Greece. This school was more spiritually motivated.

I can't remember the others and I don't have my book with me!

Who knows what Thales is remembered for?

Link from my website to my blog

We just put a link from my website, chucklarsen.com to my blog page so my blogs will show up on my website. I don't know the value of this, I'm just trying to do different things to learn how they work and what might be of value and what might not be.

Group Picture of Israel Trip

Devotion Information

Read Ecclesiastes 5 today. Vanity of vanities. You may as well try to catch the wind as try to find meaning and fulfillment in life through possessions, positions, and pleasures. They just don't make it.

memory verse. Romans 8:38 And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God's Love. Neither death, nor life. Neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow. Not even the powers of hell can separate us from God's love.

Physical Status

blood pressure was 119/68 today. Lower than usual and I haven't taken any blood pressure medication for a few days.

I weighed in at 165 this morning, the same as yesterday. Down 5 pounds since our return from Israel. That's encouraging.

Did a 52 minutes on the treadmill this morning. Max speed 8mph for over 1 minute. Went 3.75 miles, burned 470 calories.
